The Rising Star Block For Rotary Cutting and AccuQuilt

The Rising Star block looks complicated but it's really easy to piece! Cutting instructions included for rotary cutting and for the AccuQuilt Rising Star die.

The Rising Star block is a star within a star. The diagram below shows the three fabric variation.

The fabric can be cut using a rotary cutter or the AccuQuilt Rising Star die. Either way you cut the fabric, start with the flying geese units. The video below shows how to speed piece Flying Geese Units Four at a Time. It will start at 05:02 on the timeline.

Once the flying geese units are sewn the small star can be pieced. Finally, the outer star points are added to complete the block. The video below shows this process.

I like to cut three blocks at the same time using fat quarters. Once all the pieces are cut, I separate them into the three blocks. You can download the fat quarter cutting diagrams for both the rotary cutter and the AccuQuilt in the video description. I have included them here.
