This block is similar to 0817 Layers of Squares. In that block, the center square appears to be on top of the large corner blocks. In this version, the center square is sandwiched between the large corner blocks.

Piecing Block 1122 Layers
This block is a 4 x 4 grid. There are 4 grid spaces across and 4 grid spaces down. Since this is a 12" finished block, the units in each grid space finish at 3" because 3 x 4 = 12.
For rotary cutting, here are the patches we need. The AccuQuilt die numbers that cut each shape are are listed below the shape.

A – 2 @ 3-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangles.
B – 3 @ 3-1/2” squares.

1. Using the B patches, make the following units:
