Corn and Beans is a classic quilt block. There are a lot of variations of this design and here is mine.

Piecing the Corn and Beans Quilt Block

My version of Corn and Beans quilt block uses just half square triangles and squares to make piecing easier. The AccuQuilt dies for each patch are listed below each diagram.

55059, 55709 or 8” Qube #2

55063, 55712 or 8” Qube # 5

Fabric Cutting

A – 10 @ 2-1/2” squares.

B - (8 Blue & White HST)

·        4 @ 2-7/8’ (3” to trim) squares for HST 2 At A Time OR

cut each in half once diagonally for 8 patches OR

·        1 @ 6-1/4” square for HST 8 At A Time

B - (8 Black & White HST)

·        4 @ 2-7/8’ (3” to trim) squares for HST 2 At A Time OR

cut each in half once diagonally for 8 patches OR

·        1 @ 6-1/4” square for HST 8 At A Time

B - (4 Black & White HST)

·        2 @ 2-7/8’ (3” to trim) squares for HST 2 At A Time OR

cut each in half once diagonally for 4 patches.

B - (4 Green & White HST)

·        2 @ 2-7/8’ (3” to trim) squares for HST 2 At A Time OR

cut each in half once diagonally for 4 patches.

A – 2 @ 2-1/2” squares.

B - (4 Green & White HST)

·        2 @ 2-7/8’ (3” to trim) squares for HST 2 At A Time OR

cut each in half once diagonally for 4 patches.

B - (8 Blue & White HST)

·        4 @ 2-7/8’ (3” to trim) squares for HST 2 At A Time OR

cut each in half once diagonally for 8 patches OR

1 @ 6-1/4” square for HST 8 At A Time

B - (8 Black & White HST)

·        4 @ 2-7/8’ (3” to trim) squares for HST 2 At A Time OR

cut each in half once diagonally for 8 patches OR

·        1 @ 6-1/4” square for HST 8 At A Time

B - (4 Black & White HST)

·        2 @ 2-7/8’ (3” to trim) squares for HST 2 At A Time OR

cut each in half once diagonally for 4 patches.

Piecing

1. Using the B patches or squares, make the following HST units.

Make 4

2. Using the HST units and the A patches, make the following units.

Each unit should measure 4-1/2”.
