This quilt finishes about 65" x 78" and is made using 5" squares. You can use packages of 5" charm squares, cut your own squares or use fat quarters. This is a great scrappy quilt.

When going through my scrap fabric or after finishing a project, I use my AccuQuilt cutter to cut 5" and 10" squares. I can use the 5" charm squares and 10" layer cake squares to make many of the free patterns available for these pre cuts.
Fabric Requirements
Blocks:
7 Charm Packs - OR - 13 light fat quarters + 10 dark fat quarters. You will need:
- 120 dark squares @ 5"
- 150 light squares @ 5"
Binding: 5/8 yd
Backing: 5-1/2 yds
Cutting
Light Squares
- Set aside 120 light squares.
- From remaining 30 light squares cut each into 4 @ 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" squares. You will have 120 squares.
Cut 30 light squares to make 120 @ 2-1/2" squares.
Dark Squares
For the 120 dark squares, cut each into 2 @ 2-1/2" x 5" rectangles. Divide the rectangles into two stacks.
Piece the Left Side
Using one stack of dark rectangles and all the remaining 5" light squares, piece the left side of the block as shown. Press toward the dark fabric.

Piece the Right SideUsing the remaining dark rectangles and all of the light 2-1/2" squares, piece the left side as shown below. Press toward the dark fabric.

Complete the Block
Piece all the left side pieces to all the right side pieces to complete the block. Press toward the left side.

The top is pieced in 10 vertical rows of 12 blocks. Lay out the blocks 10 across and 12 down.
- For the odd number vertical rows, the blocks are placed in the same direction with the small light square in the upper right.
- For the even number vertical rows, the blocks are place with the small light square in the lower left.
