Parfait Quilt

Use any large or all over print that you love to make this fun and easy quilt. It only takes 2 different fabrics and a total of 5 yards.

Finished size approx. 50" x 68"

Fabrics

Main Fabric - 2 yards 

Cut cut along the lengthwise grain:
  1. 7 strips @ 4-1/2" x LOF.
  2. 4 strips @ 1-1/2" x LOF for Border 2

Background - Moda Grunge Basics White Paper 30150-101 (3 yards)

This fabric is cut first along the crosswise grain.

Cut the following along the crosswise grain, 3 @ 4-1/2" x WOF.

With the strips folded wrong sides together, layer 2 strips to cut 4 layers at once.

  1. Cut 1 @ 12-1/2" x 4-1/2" to yield 4 pieces.
  2. Cut 1 @ 6-1/2" x 4-1/2" to yield 4 pieces.
With the remaining strip folded wrong sides together, cut:
  1. Cut 2 @ 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" to yield 4 pieces.
  2. Cut 1 @ 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" to yield 2 pieces.
Continue cutting along the crosswise grain. Cut 6 @ 2-1/2" x WOF for binding

Piece the Top

Use the chart below to trim down the main fabric strips and add the top and bottom background to each. After trimming and piecing, each strip should measure 58-1/2” long. 
Cut 8 of the 2-1/2" background trips to 58-1/2" long. Using the picture below as your guide:
  • Piece 6 of the background strips between the 7 main fabric strips.
  • Sew the remaining background strips to either side of the quilt. These side strips are the Border 1 sides.

Finish Border 1

Cut 2 of the 2-1/2” background strips to 44-1/2”. Sew one to the top and the one to the bottom.

Border 2

Cut 2 of the 1-1/2” main fabric strips to 62-1/2”. Sew one strip to each side of the quilt.

Cut the 2 remaining 1-1/2” main fabric strips to 46-1/2”. Sew one to the top and one to the bottom.

Border 3

Cut 2 of the background strips to 64-1/2”. Sew one strip to each side of the quilt.

Cut the remaining 2 background strips to 50-1/2”. Sew one to the top and one to the bottom.
