0108 Crossed Canoes Quilt Block | Quilting Tutorial | Rotary Cutting | Paper Piecing | AccuQuilt

This has been on my bucket list for a while now. I made a version with a tone-on-tone white background and 21 different navy fabrics. From a distance it looks like a two fabric quilt. This version had eight different accent fabrics and a single white fabric for the background.

Crossed Canoes Block Finished Sizes:
AccuQuilt - 9"
Rotary Cut - 7"
Paper Pieced - 12"

Paper Piecing - 85" x 109"

Two Fabric Version

Fabrics

There are 8 accent fabrics in the scrappy version.

AccuQuilt

I used the GO! Crossed Canoes 9" Finished Die #55181 to make my quilt. It is a Block on Board and the fabrics are cut into 6-1/4" squares. For 1 block you need 2 squares of the accent fabric and 2 squares of the background fabric.

From 1 fat quarter you will get 6 @ 6-1/4" squares. This is enough accent or background fabric to make 3 blocks.

From yardage, cut strips @ 6-1/4" x WOF. Sub cut to 6 @  6-1/4" squares. This is enough accent or background fabric to make 3 blocks.
