Stitch and Flip Tutorial
Mark diagonal lines on the wrong side of each of the small squares.
Place one small square on top of the large square, covering the corner as shown.
Stitch just inside the marked line.
This step is optional. If you want to use the corner to make a half square triangle, mark and stitch another line parallel to and 1/2" away from the diagonal line.
Next, cut 1/4" away from the diagonal line.
Press towards the small triangle.
Open the smaller piece and press to reveal a small half square triangle.
Repeat for the remaining corners to complete the snowball block.
Overlapping Stitch and Flip
In this section, we use the stitch and flip method to make a Flying Geese unit. This will also show how the small squares overlap each others as they are stitched. Start with one 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" piece for the geese and two 2-1/2" squares for the sky. Mark the diagonals of each of the small squares.Happy Quilting!
