Piecing the Hard Candy Scraps Block
1. Using the B patches,
make 2 of the 4-patch units.
2. Refer to diagram to assemble block.
To make the quilt shown above, you need an equal amount of light and
dark fabrics.
Assorted Lights and Assorted
Darks
Patch A – 80 @ 4-1/2” squares.
- 9 strips @ 4-1/2” x WOF. Sub cut each strip into 9 segments.
Patch B – 320 @ 2-1/2” squares.
- 20 strips @ 2-1/2” x WOF. Sub cut each strip into 16 segments OR
For Strip piecing
- Sew 1 light and 1 dark strip together lengthwise. Press seam.
- Sub cut each strip set into 16 @ 2-1/2” segments.
- For scrappy quilt, mix up the segments to make the 4-patch units.
Piecing
- Make 80 blocks.
- Sew blocks into 10 rows of 8, alternating orientation as shown.
